How the numbers work

The calculator starts from a typical litres-per-metre figure for each planting type in an average UK summer week, then adjusts for heat and how fast your soil drains. Sandy soil drains quicker so needs more; clay holds moisture so needs less. Run time assumes standard inline dripline with emitters every 33cm — roughly 6.3 litres per metre per hour.

Treat it as a strong starting point, not gospel. Push a finger into the soil: damp at two knuckles means you can wait. Your bespoke Bloomline design fine-tunes this properly using your actual tap flow rate and bed measurements.
